AFC question..

AFC question..

Postby richt1271 » Tue Jun 07, 2005 12:06 pm

My car was broken into and the thief took my AFC monitor and left the wiring...the car starts up and dies right away...anyone know what i can do about that?

I heard that the ECU can be resetted and the car will run, or do you i need to buy a new afc and connect it?

Please let me know. Thanks.

note: the afc is not tunned.

SUP Brotha,

To reset your ECM, Your gonna need to disconnect the Positive battery terminal for a solid 2 minutes to drain the system. As far as engine running, that's another story. Check to see if the wiring on the ECU is still good not split. It might be a incomplete circuit that is causing the engine to terminate. Hopefully this helps out.

Peace

afc

you need to dissconnect the harness, then reattach all the wires that originally ran through the afc.

i think u have to take out all the wires that's left from the safc in order to get ur engine to run normal...

Yeah, I have always worry about that too....and I have a 10 times worst then yours location of your S-AFC on my car.....right in front of the CLOCK so everyone can see it............I hope that day never come.

About the SAFC, you have to wire it back to OEM setting, by removing the SAFC left overed wires......that really sucks, but look at it this way, your car is still on your driveway, think about someone jacked that SAFC at some area that you just went for dinner or so.....

Oh....I have my SAFC anti theft system, I always put my very dirth hat over my SAFC when I parked my car beside my garage.........if someone still want to jack it, tough luck.........

All the replies above are correct, I'll explain a little why. The 1 wire that will make your car start again is the yellow wire and white wire from the SAFC harness. They went to the pink wire of the ECU. The reason why is you actually cut that wire and since the SAFC isn't there, you need to reconnect it for the ECU to see the sensor and do its job. At this point the ECU can't see a signal from the air flow meter to determine how much air is coming in and isn't able to determine how much fuel to deliver. You should have got a CEL. The other wires were just tapped into so they are ok.

If you want to take a shortcut, if the connecter end from the ECU to the SAFC left in the vehicle is a female connector and you can determine which pins are the yellow and white wires, just stick a small wire or paperclip in to short those 2 together to complete the circuit. This is if you are planning to eventually replace it. That way you don't have to rewire anything. Alternatively, you could take a small wire and short together where the pink wire attaches to the yellow wire to where the pink wire attaches to the white wire by the ECU. Then you can just remove that wire when you are ready to put the new SAFC on. -JoeB

*note: The fact that your SAFC was not tuned makes this even easier. It was not making any corrections so wiring around it will make no change in how the car was running before.

definitally going ot have to re-wire the wires that were cut... the other wires were just tap wires so you can get a reading.. the AIR FLOW in and OUT are what you are going to have to re wire
