Tire Recommendation

Tire Recommendation

Postby thealkimo » Tue Jun 14, 2005 4:59 am

i need to buy a new set of tires within the next week since my current tires have a manufacturer defect...

i have narrowed it down to four candidates under $500 but can't seem to find any reputable performance specs/reviews so if you know anything about these please chime in!!!

listed highest priced to lowest; all sized 235/40 18
1. Falken Azenis ST-115
2. Goodyear F1 GS-D2 (renamed to EVO-Z)
3. Hankook Ventus HII
4. Nankang NS-II (not too sure about these)

all of these have similar treadwear (360), traction (A), and temp (A)...

i'm basically looking for the best performing tire of the group...

If you can shell out a few bucks more, check out the FUZION HRi orZRi

http://www.1010tires.com/tirebrand.asp?brand=Fuzion

These tires are the "Scion brand" of Bridgestone. THe ZRi has a similar tread pattern that is on the Bridgestone Potenza S03 tires (ultra high performance) but these have a way better tread rating lol

Potenza S03: http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?tireb ... e+Position

Definately better than all your listed brands... but if you ABSOLUTELY had to go w/ what you listed, I'd go w/ the Falken

www.1010tires.com has the best reviews, IMO... I spent over 4 hours researching tires after I had my incident... research = the win. =P

BTW, after all my research, my tire provider (trust him 100%) suggested the Fuzion ZRi, Toyo Proxy 4 or the Pirelli PZero Nero for the Solara application...

THe cons for each:
ZRi = Newer brand so I was just scared... although he told me bridgestone makes them.
Toyo = Noisy like a mofo
PZero = follows the freeway rain grooves... so your car moves left and right slightly within the lane.
1GR-FE ftw!

I just picked up a set of Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus XSE installed for around 600. I love them.

Get some g-force t/a kdw2's! Awesome tires. Expensive though...Hey you think about getting size 245 40's? More grip...
