Fuel Guage

Fuel Guage

Postby TRDmonkey » Mon Jun 20, 2005 8:50 pm

Does anyone else's fuel guage goes up and down? For example, I'm driving and the gas light comes on and i decided to get off at the next exit for gas. I give it some gas and change lanes and the light goes off. Then later on it comes back. This doesn't only happen when im low on gas, it moves around even if i have 3/4 tank of gas, 1/2 tank. etc.

Do you have after market gauges in the car? Could have done something to the mechanism while putting 'em on?
Since it's occuring at all levels, take Greg's advice. Good luck.

The gauge usually goes down when u hit the gas hard..n then goes back up in most cars..also in my civic if I took a sharp turn or something like tht the fuel moved around making changes in the gauge. B

But try showing it though..u shud get a profiessional opinion

This happens to me very very very slightly as well, although next to my '92 Camry the Solara's fuel gauge is a godsend. I'd be on the E line in that thing and park it at my house, go to get gas the4 next mornign and be at 1/4 easy, but then it would run right back down. I think it's either a sort of advance warning before there actually is too little gas, or some sort of inherant thing with Toyota. I know fuel moving around can do this to an extent, which I think is the only sublte thing in the Solara, but I had the extremities of it with my Camry. I always just tried to not let it bother me and filled it up when it got down to the bottom. Does effect anything really, just your nerves.
