051 Touch up paint ... one bottle or two?

my local toyota dealership has a couple of people there that apparently didnt know what they were selling. according to the guy behind the counter today 051 touch up paint (the kind in the little bottle with the brush) comes in two parts that really matter ... (1) the base coat and (2) the pearl coat. the pearl coat bottle has clear coat elements in it so (3) the clear coat bottle, he said, is just to pad the price.

i was sold only the 051 bottle (which apparently is just pearl) by a couple of his coworkers and applied it all over my car until one of my friends commented on how it silver it looked on the white paint. then several friends chimed in and said the same thing. so the base paint, as i recall him quoting from this little book of his, was 040. does this sound familiar to anyone? i thought touch up paint (in the bottle) always came in one bottle.

are they messing with me cuz i got a defective bottle or are there really two bottles of touch up for 051? he said it's special to this color.

051 is peral white and the step2 has diamond powder in the clear coat.

my first time buying a touch up paint is at longo toyota 5 years ago. the retarded parts sales only gave me the step2 (clear coat with diamond powder) and i found it didnt work well and i tossed it.

but now i know i need to buy two to make it work....

I'm searching now (that's how I found this thread). I remember someone gushing about a kit that squeegies the paint out of the ding and clearcoats it and such. You use what Toy. gives with their kit. If that rings a bell for anyone... chime in. If I find the name, I'll swing back this way.
