oil leaks galore

Well b4 my powertrain warrenty ran out as I couldn't do my extended warrenty thanks to parents who said NO for buying another warrenty(flips a finger @ them) The dealership was able to fix a crack/leak when my warrenty was still in effect. Now a new leak showed up but i'm good for awhile though but will be needing 500 large+taxes to cover the repairs since warrenty flew the coup :evil:

I'm pretty sure oil leaks are a common thing among ANY CAR. Please share some light over your OIL stories with me please as I cringe with my pullings of savings for the future repairs.

It depends on where the leak is....I'd just clean it real good with simple green to isolate the leaky area and shop around for a good reasonably priced mechanic....500 sounds steep

The only leak I've had so far was from a bad valve cover gasket. It was a slow leak and not a big deal, but I went ahead and had it fixed while I had the car in for a tune-up. They did it for the cost of parts only, which was still $80 (rip-off, I know), so I don't know how much it'd cost normally. Depending on where the leak is, $500 may be a steal or a horrible deal.

Yeah, where is the leak? A valve cover or oil pan is most common on our cars, and that shouldn't even get close to 500.

Pops has a 98 Camry wit a V6, and right now he has about 70, 80 k miles and his front value cover is leakin' a little oil.
So he goin to get a new one when he gets his timin' belt done.
Dealership over charges man.

Rear axile or something I think. Will have to check the service slip to see if they wrote down the issue.

main seal by the bearing is the place will leak and cost you most of money to fix it. 5sfe has common valve cover oil leak but it is not big deal. oil pan leak is very common too, but it is cheap to fix it.

re-doing the oil pan is really easy actually.. I did mine when I did the tranny swap
