Correct exhaust for this application

I have a 2003 SE, 2.4L four cylinder. Love it. Fairly quick, Reliable, economical....... Many have told me to maximize benefits i should upgrade the intake, exhaust at the same time. All i plan to do with intake is drop in a K&N fliter. No SC, TC, or CAI. As for what i want, Number one it has to be street legal in CA. Quiet. Lower sound. If i could squeeze more horses out or milage that would be great. Not building a race car, just a classy cruiser. From what i searched and found, the TRD seemed to be the way to go for me, seeing that i dont have a y pipe. Seems like an awfully expensive muffler. Then custom piping on top of that ( http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php? ... ht=exhaust ) ouch! What do you think. Suggestions please.

Thanks in advance.

For the intake it only makes sound when you smash on it so you don't need to worry on that. . . Just get the Injen Intake it will be CARB Legal for CA and for the cat back exhaust I recommend the GReddy EVO for it has a low hum and meets the CA Decibal regulation but if you want a really quiet exhaust get A'pexi World Sports. . . TRD is an over priced muffler but it's your own opinion on that because with custom piping the TRD muffler could be louder than the GReddy or A'pexi

Yeah all of them are bolt on. . . with how much you pay for the TRD muffler unless your going to do custom piping it will not be worth it. . . GReddy and A'pexi are cat back exhaust

I know i was looking online last night and the GReddy and A'pexi cat backs are not that much more expensive compaired to what they want for the TRD muffler. Unfortunatly both those systems are listed for the V6 model. Will they work with my I4? How much different are they cat back wise from the V6? Didnt really want to do custom piping, kinda wanted to install this myself (bolt on). StockSolara what are you running?

Ignore the V6 thing; they're exactly the same (behind the cat). You might have to put a bolt in to cover the O2 sensor hole, as if I remember right the 2AZs don't have a post-cat O2 sensor like the 1MZ and 5S do. Someone with a 2AZ with have to confirm or deny that though.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.
