277.6 KM/h = around 172/173 mph. Btw, it does not float at that speed. I did however mess up a valve i think. The rear head is tapping now. :(

Nutty101, are you saying this was a data stream from your car and that you actually took your car 172MPH? If so, that is SICK! Can you share your mods with us?

I work in data communications and was curious why that modem. That modem is designed to provide access to a network like a cell phone (over a cellular network). So are you using the modem to broadcast data over the mobile network back to a server somewhere? Why not just capture it local to a laptop and skip the modem? What data are you reading, OBD2 or have you developed a way to look into the programming of the ECU? If it's the later, please let me know, I'm very interested. If it's simply reading the VSS parameter from the OBD2, that's accomplished much easier with an OBD2 connection in vehicle to a laptop. -JoeB

It's designed to send data to up to four servers at once. It uses GPS to return information in encoded messages to a server via UDP packets. Then the server side rips them apart and parses them for storage. Modem is data only, there is no audio on this one. However the option does exist but I have never used it. As for the laptop. My car is a computer system. It's based on a pc. Also OBD is sloooow. Forget that thing, you cannot read anything off it.

I have replaced alot of things in my car with custom modules or redesigned into a USB device for the computer inside of it. Pretty much think of the car as a giant desktop. Typical stuff outside some of the electronics I have designed. Pretty soon I will have replaced the cluster with lcd. Were almost there, just trying to put some finishing touches on the module that hooks onto the harness and converts it into a usb device. Even the ODO is going to be 100% working.

I also have a device that converts the VSS for the car. This is so you can use any size tires you want and keep the speedo correct (or incorrect - however I will disable that part cause its prolly illegal).
