Removing EGR sensor

Postby trioptimum » Wed Jul 20, 2005 12:21 pm

Hey all.

Went to replace my EGR position sensor, and the freaking strut bar was in the way of my tools ><. The bolts are so tiny and tightly fit, pliers won't budge them, and my socket wrench won't touch them because of the bar... removing the bar is probably too much work for me without the proper tools.

Any ideas to get those bolts off with the bar there?! Thanks.

Not meaning to state the obvious, but if needed, remove the bar.

Mine (a Gen2) only takes a couple minutes to remove. (Six nuts in total)

Yeah, I did, I had to get a pipe and use it to leverage the ratchet, but it came off eventually. All set now :). Thanks for the reply.

It's called a cheater bar. (The pipe) There's nothing wrong with that. I keep one with my ratchet at all times.

Glad it worked out. 8)
