Intermittent BRAKE Light

Intermittent BRAKE Light

Postby TRAFFICBLOWS » Thu Jul 21, 2005 6:02 am

You know that light that goes on when you pull up the emergency brake? For the past few months, my BRAKE light goes on/off periodically when the e-brake is not engaged.

I'm clueless about these things... is that light telling me something about the regular brakes or just the emergency brake? I use the e-brake frequently when parked, so I dunno what has the problem.

its amazing how 'casual' some of you are to your gauges indicating a problem! it could be
1. low brake fluid
2. loose handbrake (e-brake) cable
3. combination of low pads or prob in master cyl for the brake parts....

Hmmm, I better get this thing checked out this weekend, then. If it was my check engine light, I would have gotten it looked at by now. I wonder if I dropped too much food/coffee into the e-brake compartment...

casual = lazy a$$ mofo

Thanks!

it's probably your brake fluid level is low. that might be due to your brake pads being worn out.

i still have my BRAKE light on. i'm used to it already, i think it's kinda trendy. :p

damn, i gotta change my brakes...

Yeah I would see that light once in a while. The fluid in the reservior gets low and trips it. Good thing im doing a full brake job tomorrow. New rotors (old ones are warped, crusty and generally nasty) new ceramic pads, new fluid, oh yeah!

you probably need new brake pads, this has been discussed many times before, you can search if youd like...
raphael

but yeah, check your brakes, your brake fluid might be low due to your pads being worn out...

Brought the car in at 6am to be first in line at my mechanic... well 6 hrs and $450 later, the brake light hasn't come back on, yet.

Wound up that I needed new rotors, new pads, and a tie rod end. I got an alignment cause my wheel was all vibrating, too. I knew my car was f'd up... the symptoms just kept on getting worse and louder.
