Debadging

I'm looking to debadge the Solara sign at the trunk.

what's the best way?? my frriend is saying the hair blow dryer with a small string should do good.. but I dunno. what's everyones opinion on this??

Gen 2, but I was able to do it on a hot day with just fishing line...

Will the "Solara" mark be there like a tan when I do debadge it, or can you clean the tan off? Because I wont do it if the mark will be on after I debadge. Or is the tan cleanable??

I did the Toyota emblem on a cool night with some dental floss, the glue was a pain to take off with my finger nail. I did the Logo and the "Solara" on a hot day and the glue was alittle easier to roll off. I just need to clay bar that part of the car cause I still have a shadow where the Logo was, hardly noticeable. Materials used: dental floss, paper towel, dw-40, chamios, and car wax. Warning I tied the floss around my index fingers and cut my fingers with all the friction, so tie the ends of the floss around a towel so you can have some grip

This car is like 6 years old.. u guys think the solara mark will be there after it's debadged more like a tan?? That's the only thing im scared of. Or is the only thing that you should worry about is the glue?

I took the Toyota badge off of my '99 three months ago. All I used was dental floss, goo gone, and WD-40. It took some time and effort, but now you can't tell it was there at all. Yeah, the "tan" will be there for a while unless you buff it out. I've never heard of it not buffing out, so I wouldn't worry too much.

yeah worst case you have to buff it off after you make sure the glue is all gone of course

this is the best way to do it.

I'm planning on doing this soon too as well, and seeing as how I also have a '99 I'd like to hear how your endeavour goes as far as ease of removal and "tanning"/"tanning" buffing.

I got the same year as you do...and I did this to the sides and the trunk. I was a little worried at first because the car had been up North and with all the snow and salt, I was concerned how it would look afterwards. But as soon as you get it off with the blow drier and dental floss, I used a combination of "goo-gone" (ended up running out) and windex and a finger nail. It came out fine, no scratches, can't even tell it was there.

I'm considering "rebadging" it with gold emblems. The kits are no longer available, but they have to be able to provide replacement parts.

Hair dryer (makes it easier, optional)
Floss
Goo Gone

Done

If your worried about the "tanlines", take off the "Toyota" first, which is less conspicuous.

I guarentee that even if there is a tan line, it will blend in in a week or two anyways after getting some sun.

Ive done this on a white and black w/o tanlines.
