Bump Stops

I am installing my springs/struts probably this weekend... I have talked to a guy at tokico and he said NOT to cut the bump stops, but what i have read on here is most people cut their bump stops.... What should I do?? I told him i was installing teins and he said do not cut them... some plz help because i am confused on what to do about this!

ps.... i changed my order of tokicos to kybs if that makes any difference.... I know i should have gone with tokico but Im a college kid who needs his $$

I think its dependent on the springs, not the struts.
And I would cut them, but Im not dropped yet so I have no personal experience. I think the car will sit higher and you will bottom out more without cutting the bumpstop.

I know Vogtlands and Teins both have instructions to cut the bumpstop in the instructions. Not sure about Eibach or Sprints.

why even have springs and shocks if its going to sit on the bump stop.... i dont think ^^^ is accurate

It's not sitting on the bumpstop. So how the heck would not cutting the bumpstop cause it to sit higher??

Bumpstops DO NOT determine your ride height, springs do.

In some cases (like mine) the teins may settle low enough to ride directly on uncut front bumpstops, resulting in a harsh ride with constant bottoming out. Tokico doesn't know jack about bumpstops because struts don't determine ride height either. Trust the note that came with your Tein springs and cut those bumpstops in half.

I have the TRD/Tokico combo and when I had them installed they did not cut the bump stops and the front of the car will bottom out at the drop of a dime. I would definately cut the bump stops.

Same exact thing happened to me, which is why I hate letting other people work on my car.

If you havent done so already, you can cut the stops while they are on the car. Just jack the car up, lift the dustboot and use a razor or a pair of scissors to trim the stop. Did mine a few weeks ago and improved my ride quality drastically.

I put my tein/tokicos in a week ago and I cut the bumpstops. Havent had any sort of problems. I did it cause it says so in teins directions and plenty of people on here say its a must. I dont think the car would sit on the bumpstop if you dont cut it but i do believe it would bottom out a lot if you didnt. It wont hurt the car if you cut them. All they do is help protect the struts from the upper spring seat.
