Debadging

I used a heat gun, a towel to push it off as it melted, and tar remover to get rid of the rest of the goo. No "tan" left over.

Yeah.....I used a blow dryer, covered the metal edge of a scraper with duct tape, cleaner wax and a lot of patience. :)

I did the "TOYOTA" decal today.

I decided not to do the "SLE V6" yet and wait to see how the "TOYOTA" "tan" fairs over the next week or so.

I definitely plan to keep the "Solara" and Toyota badge on the back though, as I like that look.

I just used a blowdryer cause I couldn't find my heat gun, dental floss and some "dissolv-it".

Worked great, and not too bad of a tanline, I'll see how it works out after another wash or two, it's not as bad as I'd originally thought, but it's a little more pronounced than I'd hoped.

i did my 2000 with fishing line..angle the line a bit outward so the sand stuck on the glue does not scratch your paint.

after getting the initial emblem of spray it down to remove sand and proceed to peel remaining glue off with your fingers.. this can be done in one piece if you do it slowly

only after all this did i use a "clearcoat" safe bug and tar remover.to remove the tiny amounts of glue left

no hair dryer or heat gun is neccessary but they do help a little....

all eblems came off no prob and left no tan marks at all after a good washing

if you do have some tanning a waxing should get it off easily

Thanks for the removal tips.

I've got gold if you've got silver and are looking to trade. I've been meaning to switch over to silver for a while now anyways.

I got a 99" Solara and I debadged my car last year. All I used was some degreaser and pulled the emblems off, leaving just the Solara emblem on the trunk.

I did it in the evening on a hot day and it came off pretty easily. The tape behind the emblem I just peeled off with my fingers. Then I used some Zymol and there were no marks after applying.

If your re-badging the car, I would just use some 3m double face tape, trace the emblems going back on your car then use that as a palette to trace onto the 3M tape.......from there with an exacto-knife just cut out the shape and re-apply the badges.

Hope that was helpful to you.

I just took off everything off of the trunk today.
I skipped school today so i was bored. 8)
But i guess i'll have to go get some goo-gone or some type of bug&tar remover. It looks really bad, but i also havent washed it lately since its been raining so much. Once i get cleaned up it'll look nice.
I'll try to get the camera tonite and take some shots, maybe of the new alpine too. This thread was helpful. Fishing line broke a lot, but it did the trick.
