VIS cf hood

anyone know where i can get a vis cf hood? can i use factory hood latch? don't wanna use hood pins. i know i can't use factory hood struts on cf hood. is there a company as good as vis out there? help me please. i need to get one b4 DUB show in sept thanks in advance

Yeah I got mine from ebay. . . The hood pins is recommended because there are some members on here that has had there hood poped up on them because the hood latch broke and yeah I'll let your imagination determine what happen to there car. . .

The Fiber Images carbon fiber hood is a good investment rather then the VIS carbon fiber hood.

My boy had one on his integra and got into an accident with it on, the hood only got scratched.......didn't break and was able to use it later on (with a few scratches on it).

......and here's the website, its gonna be more then the VIS hood but its well worth it. I remember a memebr on the forum had one rip off his car in a matter of a few weeks or something while driving with the VIS hood installed (just thought I'd give you a heads up on that).

It was me that had a ViS hood that popped. It was the first unit from them, and I got it 1 week before christmas, and it popped on me christmas day 2002. Do get hoodpins, better safe than sorry. Also, a fun fact..the latch was NOT broken, it somehow SLIPPED from the stock latch..keep in mind it was THEIR mechanics that installed it, AND it was the boss that was working that told me that it would not pop..flippin assholes.

I agree with the statement about FiberImages or VIS. While I don't have any first hand experience with VIS, they are notorious for poor products and even worse customer support.

In the composites world, ViS hoods are pretty low. They use a lot of inferior matierals to make the prices low. Well I guess any open molded carbon fiber piece is going to be lower quality, resin rich, and heavy. But the cost of manufacturing a good light hood is not cheap. The point of a carbon hood is to be light and strong. You don't get either with a ViS hood. I have had one on my integra before I started doing carbon stuff. It weighted 18lbs. The one I build for my integra weights less than 4lbs.
