My Guage Won't Light up Anymore

Postby redgreen21 » Fri Aug 05, 2005 6:24 pm

I install blue leds behind the guages, and initially they worked fine. Then the HVAC controls and Guage went out. I manage to get to the fuse that controled the center console but I can seem to get the guages lit back up. Please Help!

Does anyone happen to know what fuse is for the guages. Or is it just a trial and error thing.

Also, what do you guys think of this problem? Sometime last year, after my car was parked in a real hot parking lot (not sure this is relevant, but just in case...) I fired up the car and noticed that the dash clock was burned out (I assume it's still keeping time, but it no longer displays) and also the power mirrors stopped working.

Are those two things maybe connected? Are they on some fuse somewhere? I checked the fuses I could find in the hood, and they all seemed ok, but I know there are other ones in the car I haven't found yet. Thanks a lot guys!

I know about the ones under the dash, just trying to figure out which of those fuses is the one for the guages. I guess ill start from scratch and figure it out from the beginning. Ill keep everyone updated.

Well I just checked all of the fuses and they are all ok. The panel fuse according to the owners manual is the one controlling the instrument lights, and that appears to be fine, as other things on that same fuse are still running. So I guess im left with taking apart the instrument cluster. Wish me luck haha

Oh wow- you know, I just discovered that was there, like a month ago? It blew my mind. Pitch black driving, no moon outside, down go the lights... spooky.

Yeah I alreadey knew about that, too bad that was the problem. I found out what it was when i took apart the instrument cluster. The plastic/copper circuit board at the back had one of the circuits to the back lighting burnt out. F***. I've no idea what to do now. Does anyone have any ideas? Can you rewrire around the break? I didnt think LEDs drew that much power, so Im surprised it burnt out.
