ABS?

I don't know if it is ABS.. but it was raining and I slammed on the brakes and all I heard was this grinding noise like rocks grinding on SOLID metal. Didn't sound healthy for my car at all. Was it was ABS?

If you felt your foot being pushed back by the brake, then yes it was ABS. You lost traction, and the ABS unlocked the brakes to try and get it back for you.

When was the last time you had your brake pads replaced?

yes i felt my break foot being pushed back a little.. (peddle didnt go down as far as usual even when i slammed on the brakes.) so yeah.. i guess it was ABS. It's just the sound that worries me. It's not my break pads either.. Oh well.. at least i didnt skid on the road when i slammed my breaks.

No it doesnt light up.
It happens to me every time in wet conditions if I brake more-than-conservatively. And its saved my ass on more than one occasion in snow/ice. Just wait til the winter, youll be hearing it alot, especially in the great white north.

First time I heard it I was close to a curb, I slapped the brakes on and all I heard was the metal grinding noise. I thought that I was rubbing on the curb with the under carriage.
