I just did my front ones today too, rear ones this weekend. Never taken a tire off, biggest DIY was an o2 sensor a few weeks ago, so this was a big scare for me, but it all went well. I got the piston-pushing tool for free (rent) from AutoZone, a big help. I had a hard time with the caliper bolts, had to step on the wrench to free one ;).

My torque wrench ($30 AutoZone one) is huge, and wouldn't fit under the wheel well. I just tightened the caliper bolts as tight as I could, and torqued the lugnuts. Is this going to be a problem later - should I find a smaller torque wrench?

Also, I had tons of noises at first, I took it out and slammed on it so hard they smoked (the fresh grease burning off the pads I think) a few times then it was silent ^^.

Edit: If you need the torque specs go invest $15 in the Haynes manual, it was how I got through the job, pictures every step of the way. The lugnuts were 75ft/lbs and the caliper bolts were 25ft/lbs, BTW :).

Yup. Get one :). Definitely a big help for anything you're going to do yourself on the car; tons of pictures/diagrams, specs, and walkthroughs.

torque wrench. it should have an adjustable cylinder on the handle to dial in the torque you need. when you tighten the bolt and it reaches that amount of force you will know it. the wrench makes a POP sound. done.

its a great tool to have. i use it most on my aftermarket wheel lugnuts. it makes sure you tighten things sufficiently without putting undue stress on the hardware.

No specific brand. I got mine at advance auto parts. I forget the price. Just make sure you ask for micrometer type, not beam type.
