Yep same thing a happened to mine before. I tried to clean it as well. It didnt work. I took mine to the dealership and had them fix it. It cost 300 bucks, they had to send it out to california. Its worth it just getting a new cd player. I fixed the factory one cause i wanted everything to be flush in the dash. If i would have done over i would have gotten a nice aftermarket cd player for the same price because it would be easier to use with things like ipods and satelite radio.

Err X, where X is a number, typically means it has a problem reading that particular disc. Try another slot in ur 6-changer.

If its erroring in all of em, might be time to get a new unit. CD player was the first thing to go in my solara, 3 years 2 months.

If you want the factory style, you can usually get one on ebay for about 100.

Did you run the diagnostics on the audio system and clear any stored trouble codes? Also, this system has protection circuits that will prevent cd operation if the interior of the car is too hot or too humid. To get into diagnostics, turn the key to ACC, leave the audio system off. Then hold down the 1 and 6 buttons and press the CD button 3 times. The screen will show the code numbers of the equipment installed. 190 for the head unit, 240 if you have a cd changer in the trunk and 360 if you have a changer in the console. This part is the LAN check just making sure that the components can talk to each other. Use the track up/down buttons to cycle through the codes. Pressing and holding the 5 button for more than 2 seconds while any code is displayed will clear the diagnostics memory of the given component. To get out of diagnostics just turn the key off.

System check
When pressing ”1” of TRACK TUNE APS button in LAN check mode, the mode turns to the system check mode, the system performs self diagnosis of connected equipment and displays the results. The smaller code numbers (physical address) are displayed in order (code No. (physical address), diagnosis code, support code of diagnosis code (object equipment)). When no error is detected in the system, ”00” is displayed. When an error code is detected, up to 6 codes per one system are displayed. Pressing TUNE ”UP” or TUNE ”DOWN” switches the display. In the system check mode, when pressing ”6” of TRACK TUNE APS button the mode returns to LAN check mode.

Diagnosis memory
In LAN check mode, when pressing ”2” of TRACK TUNE APS button the mode turns to the diagnosis memory mode. The results of self diagnosis performed over tuner and connected equipment are memorized and displayed. The smaller code numbers (physical address) are displayed in order (code No. (physical address), periodic communication number when error occurs, diagnosis code, and support code of diagnosis code (object equipment)). When no error is detected in the system, ”00” is displayed.
When an error code is detected, up to 6 codes per one system are displayed. Pressing TUNE ”UP” or TUNE ”DOWN” switches the display. Each diagnosis code is same as code in the system check mode. When pressing ”6” of TRACK TUNE APS button, the mode returns to LAN check mode.

I can't list the chart of trouble codes and what they mean here but if you get codes email them to me and I'll tell you what they are.

Track/Tune APS buttons are the 1-6 buttons. By showing you the 190, it was telling you that it was ready to test the head unit. Use the tune up & down buttons to get it to show you the codes.
