First upgrade was a radar detector. Then clear corners, then neons and all that stuff.

Well I added a nice stereo, but it all depends on what you want to do with your car. I'd say there are 3 basic categories of modification:

1) Sound
2) Performance
3) Looks

Not necessarily in that order. For sound, many of us are decent, but Gunman is the expert. I think Flipside is the concensus expert on performance, although again, many of us are proficient. Looks, just about anyone can help with.

My .02 on performance would be to upgrade the brakes/lines (I believe there's a brembo group buy on rotors right now at http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=1959&highlight=brembo), followed by the suspension. Then you can get into some heavier mods (ie. supercharger, header-back exhaust, etc). Good luck!

My very first mod was lowering it and putting rims on.

First thing I did was add an alarm. I felt nervous leaving my new car (new to me anyways) anywhere without one.
2. Stereo System (head unit, amps, speakers, subs, etc.)
3. Remove rear emblems
4. Rims
5. Clear corners
6. Mesh grill

-I did 1 - 4 all in about 2 weeks of eachother when I first got the car.

Still to come:

- Lowering
- Tint

First thing I did was get my stereo equipment installed
I kind of want some different gauges and maybe some more woodgrain trim.

The first thing I did was lower it and add stiffer struts. Like NaptownSolara said, your first mod really depends on what your personal preferences are. There are a lot of appearance mods you can do, and some of them can be relatively inexpensive. Performance mods can be expensive, but if you bought the car to drive it, start with some suspension mods. Sound mods can range from cheap to really expensive, so again, it just depends on what you want out of the car. Good luck!
