I was wondering if someone with a manual Solara could get in their car and see what RPM's your car is at at 60mph, as well as 85mph (in 5th gear)... I drove back to school today in my car and at 60mph I was sittin at 2930rpms in 5th, then at 85 was sittin at 3600 rpms.. could someone please check and see what their car is sitting at at those speeds?
thanks in advance

at 80mph I hit 3,100 RPM

60 I forgot...It was around 2600-2700 RPM I think..I cant remember on this one.

I do notice that different mods does cause rpm difference. with factory intake I was doing 3K flat at 80Mph

2900+ at 60mph is high no doubt. i have an auto but i know that is to high for these solaras

my crappy old saturn would run at 3000+ over 55

my girls 98 accord v6 auto runs really low at high speeds w/ the overdirve of coarse but still very low..

also does anyone think that it could be due to the fact that I put a different speed ring on for the differential as well as the sensor to accomidate for teh limited slip... they go hand in hand and fit together perfect

Yeah my 80Mph was on stock wheel size and all at 3K... With my intake and Catback I ran up most towards 3100K.... I know this for sure because I have my shift light right on 31K and that when it lights up to let me know Ive hit 80Mphs

did some research about the tranny that I have.. the E153 and I read on another forum that at 80mph it should be about 3500 rpms

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/archi ... 076-1.html

The E351 manual is geared very similarly to the E153 transmission from the MR2 Turbo. So yes, you'll see higher revs, but it's intended for a sporty drive: quick off the line, better 0-60 times, etc. The cruising range will be around 3500rpm at 80mph.

E351 - tC
1st 3.538
2nd 2.045
3rd 1.333
4th 0.972
5th 0.731
Diff: 4.235

E153 - MR2T
1st 3.230
2nd 1.913
3rd 1.258
4th 0.918
5th 0.731
Diff: 4.285

Well I do know that at 95 mph Im alittle above 4K in fifth gear.. And the car sure does waste allot of gas :( Cars good for traveling but I wish our solara has a 6th gear. Specially on those 6 hours traveling on clear roads.

Ill do the 60 and 80 run again for you later today. Im having to move out. Being kick out the house hehe..

http://www.brsf.net/mr2specs.html

the second sight is a RPM calculator.. I used this sight and plugged the info in from the prior site to get the what RPM's match up with which MPH's..
