I was pulling a Bank 1 sensor 1 circuit malfuntion and I knew that this is the front o2 sensor so I checked and noticed that the wires were being pulled on a bit by the front mount that goes from the Tranny to the frame.. so I gave the sensor some slack and 100 miles later, no cel.. it was the pressure of the wires rubbing and things that caused the error.. so don't jump to conclusions if you get a o2 sensor malfunction and just replace it.. at least w\ this CEL code cause it could be something this simple

this is again, just for reference

P0135 is for the front bank.. Bank1 sensor1.. thats the front o2 sensor.. and mine was being pulled on.. you could check that.. as far as the back o2 sensors that could be another problem

but bank 1 is the front... I can get the page from Chiltons that confirms this if its needed

Wow..That would be nice..Thanks. Man the guy at autozone said it was bank 2.. Bastard got me looking at the one on the bottom of the car all that time. I got a question. If its not the one under the car doing the problem, why is my A/F gauge going nuts now. Its jumps allot more. I know its not a wide band but wow.. It goes crazy..

Anywho, So all you did was loosen up the wires a bit on the front sensor and the header and reset the battery or did it went off on its own? I wonder if installing headers would make it better too...

Thanks bro.. I feel like finally getting down to getting that CEL light off finally...

I went to advanced Auto parts and ran the code, and cleared it.. then went home and loosened up the front wires so it wouldn't rub against that mount, and then drove to school which is over 50 miles, and no CEL

Well, the codes generated means "Open circuit in B1 S1 o2 sensor" which means somewhere in the wiring, or sensor itself, there is an open circuit/short circuit. During dealer diagnostics, the wiring voltage is checked/traced first so ensure the wiring is intact. If that is not intact, then the next step is taken (and eventually you will find the actual problem).

Is that sensor the front o2 sensor of the rear one??? Cause I know there is a o2 sensor on the front header, and one on the rear, and one before the cat.. which is it?

Also.. after knowing which sensor it is (rear bank, header near firewall, or the front o2 sensor, front header)

where is a good place to get a new o2 sensor if this one is damaged to where I can't re use them?

thanks again

OEM Toyota o2 sensors are the best... the new cars are becoming VERY picky w/ aftermarket o2 sensors... for a late 80s/early 90s camry it may have been ok to go w/ an aftermarket brand, but now it's become almost a necessity for an OEM (I think Denso makes the Toyota OEM o2 sensor) parts.

I believe bank 1 is the front (exposed side)

It's "Heater Circuit" in california spec because of heavy exhaust regulations here... but it's just means o2 sensor (w/ or w/o heater)

If you feel lucky, hit up a junkyard for the sensor... it should be relatively cheap... at a dealer, it may run around $150. Remember to shop around, dealer prices are independent... but shouldn't exceed MSRP.

Call a parts dept and say you have code p0135, bank 1 sensor 1 and they will sell you the right part... good luck

thanks... I have been searching previous threads and I have seen many people say that bank 1 sensor 1 is the rear sensor, near the fire wall... most have said that they had to have the rear sensor replaced w\ this code...

Also, are both O2 sensors the same? the front and rear o2 sensors.. are they basically teh same?

So, maybe i'm reading this wrong, but is the code p0135 referring to the o2 sensor closest to the radiator? If this is the case, is p0136 referring to the o2 sensor before the cat, under the car? Sorry if these are stupid questions.
