P0135 is the Bank 1 Sensor 1 o2 sensor heater malfunction.. there is another code for Bank 2 Sensor 1 which is the front o2.. then bank 1 sensor 2 which would be the o2 sensor after the cat

here is what I heard from a local mechanic... Which ever side cylinder 1 is located is bank 1.. since our engine is cross mounted that makes the side closest to the firewall bank 1

Im thinking that diagram is right on.. the problem is I called the dealership and one guy said that the firewall side was bank 1, then I called back w\ my VIN and the duffus said that the radiator side was bank 1...

okay.... so the bank 1 is the firewall side.. now the question stands... do I need a regular o2 sensor.. or do I need an o2 sensor w\ (air fuel) 2?

Whats the difference between aif/fuel sensor and a o2 sensor?

I had P0135 pulled and im not sure if I need to replace the o2 sensor or the airfuel sensor.. or are they teh same?

Is it that California Spec cars use air fuel sensors rather than o2 sensors, and all otehr cars just use o2 sensors?? cause I checked that air fuel sensors and o2 sensors look exactly the same, and the air fuel sensors are twice as expensive...

anyone know the difference?

alright.. I have called around some more and here is what im thinking on all of this...

I think the California spec. cars use an Aif Fuel Type o2 sensor which is twice as expensive as a non-cali spec car...

can anyone confirm this for me?

Thanks

that is true.. I finally got a hold of someone creditable... Air Fuel Sensor is needed for CA cars.. and a regular o2 sensor is needed for a Non CA car

Yeah only Cali spec car runs on Air Fuel sensor.

Our O2 sensor is still damn expensive compared to generic Bosch units though... damn.
