Oil in the fender wells.

Oil in the fender wells.

Postby ThatVietGuy » Tue Aug 30, 2005 10:43 pm

Last week, I came home, parked the car in the garage and yadda yadda.

When I came back a couple hours later, there was oil dripping from the mud guards (on both sides) in the front. I immediately checked the oil levels and the tranny and their levels were just fine (I also checked it for the rest of the week after I drove and no drop). I pretty much figured that if there was oil dripping out of the motor or the tranny, then it would be collecting in a pool under the car, not inside the wheel well.

Now I'm asking myself and you guys: What can possibly be the cause? Has my shocks blown? Or did I run over a puddle of oil? Does anyone have an idea?

is it motor oil....or grease in your wheel well ? If it's grease....maybe your CV Joint Boot is torn. Or you could have ran over a puddle of oil. If your struts blew....the ride would be hecka bouncy

do you have an intake extension???

cause if you do.. its blow by and oil is running down your extension.. take the extension off and check and see if you have oil in your intake.. if you do you have major blow by which would entail a new motor..

check the intake... if there is no oil in the intake, check the intake hose that comes off the front valve cover.. if you have blow by it will push air out of the house.. usually it should have a suction meaning no blow by

are you S\C?

does he even have an extension?? cause thats what happened when I had blow by.. im just saying its a possibility.. he could have drive threw oil 2.. anything is possible..

im thinkin that its rare for a CV joint to go out, but to have both sides go out..

plus I have a hard time imagining Grease dripping

No extension, completely stock intake and no supercharger...

I question hitting a puddle of oil because my tires would have still had some trace of oil on it, right? Or could it have been driven off?

And the drips on the ground looked like a lot like motor oil. Also, the dripping continued for about 4 days.

might have a bad gasket.. could be a head gasket or anything.. could also be the seal inside the oil pump.. I had that one time.. I had oil all over the inside of my engine bay... I would take it to the dealer and say that its drippin oil by the mud guards.. and they will get it if everything is stock
