are you discrediting the use of this modification? (crank pulley)

I think you COMPLETELY missed my point. I'm saying you can't put a mod on like an intake and say, "WOW, my car has SO much more power now"! The amount of power gain from something like an intake is small enough that you can't tell just driving the car but you can measure it on the dyno. I never said there was no power gain or it was a bad mod.

Re-read my post, I never discredited this mod. in fact, just the opposite. I said that just because you don't feel the differance in the power doesn't mean it's not worth doing. It is all of the bolt on mods that add 5hp here and 10hp there that add up to make a significant gain. I am deffinitely getting one. As a matter of fact, I ordered one within about 7hrs of it being made available. This is yet 1 more part we've been looking for as a community for a LONG time and nobody else would make for us. I made several attempts to get Unorthodox to make a light weight crank pulley for us and they had absolutely no interest in helping us at all. -JoeB

JB- take a look at his profile. You were pretty clear about the value of the crank pulley. If someone has 100 hp and add on a 5 hp gain, they likely would notice it (grin). But for those with 200 or even 300~ heh perceived value. On a lighter note adding just an intake won't break your tranny.

I ordered the pulley and the Superpoly dog bone bushings yesterday. I think these products will be great.

As a side, I go to another forum site that uses URD's products to get an idea of how they work out. It is link on URD's website to a Toyota Tacoma forum, customtacos.com or something like that. They use more URD products, but you can get their impression of the different products even though it is on a truck. I find it helps me "preview" a URD product that is produced for the Solara.

That is an interesting read; very informative. Unless I read the Q&A incorrectly, it appears that the crank pulley that we will have could be slightly undersized, and might even require a different belt. I thought they were the exact same size as OEM, just lightweight. Am I wrong?

This is NOT the same thing. Unorthodox is not Underdog Racing Development. That is for the I4, URD's is for the V6. Unorthodox's is for the I4 requiring consideration of the accessory pulleys, URD's pully is just lighter in weight, not smaller requiring nothing to be done but install it. -JoeB

I ordered the full product set that Glenn offers last week. Of course I am waiting for the dogbone sets to come in. Should be within the next 2 weeks. This talk of belts relative to pulley, my belt is slowly being shredded since I put on the URD suregrip (red one). Can anyone tell me if there is a stronger material belt that I can upgrade to or is it normal for this to be happening? I have these particals of belt all over the passenger side engine bay. Anyone else get this??????????

According to my scale and it's not calibrated, the new pulley weighs less then two (2) pounds.
