New air filter suggestion

New air filter suggestion

Postby Deion » Sat Sep 03, 2005 12:31 am

I got in an accident a while back and popped on a different filter than what came with my Injen for the V6.

I'm going to order the CAI extension next week and wondering what you guys suggest would be a good filter to pick up for the application.

I was looking at Blitz and HKS for a 2.5" filter that would fit (that's the right size right?) and did find a couple. Should I just pickup the origional K&N that came with the injen or would the entire system work better/worse with a Blitz or HKS?

I read that Blitz is an all metal filter allowing much more air flow, but on a CAI application would rust from rain/snow be a problem?

I changed mine to the K&N rx4870. The dimensions are about the same as the original Injen filter plus it flows from the top. This one is so much better than Injen...

Astro got it. I just cleaned it out about 2 weeks back for the first time with my 60k maint.

Injen for I4 is 2.5" w/o CAI. V6 and CAI applications will need 2.75", and this one fits perfectly. The K&N one is actually quite a bit longer than the injen stock (maybe an inch or two?) so it should get more airflow.

I also wasnt aware that the one that comes with the Injen SR is a K&N filter...I thought it was a non-cleanable type.

You guys sold me on the K&N one. I've been looking around my city for this air filter but can't find it anywhere. I also tried contacting the website for how much shipping would be to Canada but still haven't heard anything back from them.

Is anyone willing to get this shipped to them then ship it to me? I have 2 more shops I want to check if they can get it but so far it's not looking so good.
