HELP on rattling noise

Can anyone help me pinpoint a problem on my 01 Solara (4-cyl) about a rattling noise coming from the rear right wheel suspension? I'm guessing it could be a worn out sway bar link bushing or the sway bar link itself, I don't have any idea.
What happens is that there's this big THUMP when this right rear wheel when it hits the smallest bumps, even just those small lane markings on the road, or concrete dividers (especially on buckled roads here, it makes the horrible noise) or even just going up the garage, it has this thump....I want to ask anyone's help so I can replace the exact part myself and not guessing which one to replace. HELP!!!

Hey...I just noticed that two posts popped up at around the same time about rattling from the right side. I got a call this morning from another one of our members saying that her solara started doing that too just this morning. She said its coming from the right side when she turns left.

I just think its weird that we have three Solaras rattling in a two day period.

Ive been telling everyone the same thing...Its your bearings. Wheel hub bearings. Your the 10 car Im adding to the list in one month to have this issue. And overall like 30 people including nonmembers to have the issues with the solara.. I dont think our stock bearings can handle the solara weight...

So its that. Your hub bearings. You can hear it when you turn the most where it causes stress on the Hub causeing it to shake back and forth because the bearings are broken or now loose enough to slide back and forth. You hear it big time too on bumbs because its moving the stress back and forth on the hub. Eventually you can hear it too if you drive fast and break normally that you will hear rocking. Goodluck..Costed me 178 bucks to order a new one and then 40 bucks at a small shop to install it...

hub bearing? I thought that was only the front.... mine's coming from rear right wheel....I don't hear anything when I turn and then hit the bump...

The rear has them too. And so far I havnt heard of anyone with that problem in the front. Everyone Ive heard of were from the back bearing. But get it check to see if its the bearing. Im 99% Positive its your bearing.

okay thanks for you quick reply!!!....I'll take a look at that.....is there a do-it-yourself way to quickly check it before going to my local shop? like moving the car from side-to-side, removing the wheel or something? I know that method only works if the sway bar bushing is worn out....

I dont think theres a DIY for this. Its like the movment was so little to me that I couldnt notice it when I jacked the car up. Only way I can know for sure is if Im there driving your car. Because I bet your car is stock and all, and you dont push it allot. So your factory struts are ok and no bolts should be loose.. Just leads back to the bearings..

For now Dont do anything about it yet if your not too sure. The bearings wont break off and screw you over.. Will take a huge amount of force to make that happen..Drive with it for a bit longer and see if the problem gets longer.. If it does then its your bearings for sure. It will still work, just that its not tightly fit is whats causing the sound.

Thank you very very much! yes my solara is 100% stock and used for daily trips. I just really wonder why the noise makes it only on the right side and if ever the bearings are indeed the problem, do I need to replace both sides at the same time?

No just one side.. I own two solara, and both had the same issue on the same side only.. ALong with my aunt that has a solara too, and a few other owners around my area and a few other owners on solaraguy. It seems to be from that same side... The other side are so far has no problems yet and I havnt changed it out yet. So I thnk its a defect on the parts..
