I really like the improvement in handling of my car being lowered. But its still not good enough for me. So im going to change my sway bars. I was reading old posts about the different brands and where to get them but i notice on several different threads the argument of whether or not you need to replace your front sway bar. I know for sure im going to get the TRD rear sway bar. But it seems 50/50 on either if you should replace the front or not. Some people says it works great and some say it causes understeer. Some people took off their upgraded sway bar for different reasons other than an understeer issue. So for all you who have just the rear done or both done tell me what your opinion on the matter is. Also take the poll.

A couple of side questions: Does the TRD solara have the normal front sway bar and the TRD rear sway bar? Does the TRD sway bar come with new bushings. Do you have to replace them and if you do where do you get them. And do you need an alignment after you replace the sway bars?
thanks Chris

I'm not sure what you mean by the TRD Solara?

TRD does not make a front sway bar for the car but there is a front strut brace. IMO if you want the best handling do both sway bar, TRD rear and Whiteline up front.

I just installed the Whiteline RSB yesterday and it feels great. At the least, this is what you should upgrade.

I'm also considering whether or not to upgrade the front.

I've got the TRD RSB, TRD FSTB, Whiteline FSB, add that with JIC coilovers on the stiffest setting...OH YEAH, I LOVE IT!!! :P You don't need an alignment just by adding the sway bar(s). If you don't plan on auto-x, I'd get both.

Yeah im talking about the solara you can buy at the dealership with the supercharger stock. I looks like this Image
I dont want this to get off topic But there is only 35 of them made a year? Ive seen a convertible and two different coupes in the cincinnati area.

And thank you for your responses so far this will help me and I think this will help other people who probably will want to know this in the future too. Hopefully we can get some more people who hasnt seen this post yet who has done some sway bar stuff.

Anybody know if the trd and the whiteline sway bars come with brand new bushings. If not do you have to replace them? And what do you guys get and where did you get them from?

I got a question...How man 5 speed did they ever made for the V6 solara? I heard they are very rare, yet I see allot of people having them... I mean, some of these grownups and toyota lovers around my area thought I was being a BS when I said my car was a 5 speed...and a V6..

I can answer this one! I save all my road and track magazines and the article in 1999 where the test the all new solara it states that 5% of the v6 solaras come with manuals.

I remember reading that the Long Beach Solaras were also tuned to have more horsepower than the regular V6.

sway bars

Postby Sentinel » Wed Sep 07, 2005 6:09 pm

I can't say about the front sway bar, but I think the RSB improved the handling more than the lowering and "too stiff" shocks.
(I did the RSB first)

They come with bushings & lube goo, and that's all you need to install one besides hand tools, some jackstands, and a bit of patience.
(I swore at mine for about a half hour longer than I thought I should have had to to install it: make sure you take at least one tire off)
It even comes with instructions and a WARNING: "track use blah blah"

I got mine from a Toyota dealer that sold off the web, 'bout $150.

2000 SLEv6: TRD RSB, Eibach, Tokico.
Dealer swore they didn't make the V6 with a Manual.
(Translation: They didn't have a manual to sell me)

P.S. Cuz' we talkin sway bars: has anyone seen a skid pad test with the RSB on street as opposed to track , and has anyone put theirs on "Street" or have we all put 'em on "Track" ??
