Lucas Oil Stabilizer

Lucas Oil Stabilizer

Postby ~Spadwaller~ » Mon Sep 05, 2005 12:09 pm

I just went to the @utoZone the other day and I picked up Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer and Lucas Octance Booster they work pretty well. I was wondering if any one else has experience with these same products. Was it good or bad? The octane booster said it wasn't street legal whats that about, how could a cop even tell? Supposedly the octance booster states cleaner emissions so whats illegal about that? Word 8)

I still dont know if octane boosters really work... It seems so much like a fraud. Same with all those engine cleaner thing... Because if it cleans the engine, where does all the dirty stuff goes to? And then if it goes to the filter or so...wouldnt it clog the car oil feed? It just scares me to want to buy them.. Not to mention it seems sorta cheap priced for something that can make a car sexy cleaner hehe...

The thing that sold me was that stupid display that have there. The one with the gears and the wheel one gear with normal oil and the other with oil stabilizer. So far my car feels alot smoother. I think I'm going to try the tranny stuff too.

I always wondered how thoses work in a car.... let me know how the tranny stuff does.

This might sound dumb... is the Lucas the same as that Royal Purple stuff? Some sales guy tried to get me sold on the Royal Purple oil and tranny fluid and I almost flushed out everything and put those in. But then I started thinking what fluids that thin would be like when it snows here and decided not to go through with it.

I'm just afraid of the fluids freezing...When it's really cold here I usually leave the car for over 10hrs outside. I have a blockheater but in a lot of cases I have nowhere to plug it in.

the lucas oil stabil stuff isnt all that in a motor thats worked hard or for a person that likes to get it up in the RPMs. I thought it was a great additive too until i learned about how when added to normal oil, can actually make it absorb air and make it foam which leads to increased oil temps. Go to www.bobistheoilguy.com and read about additives. So no one attacks me on my opinion, here is the direct link. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/images/lucas/lucas.htm
HE states that its perfect for slow revolution motors like tractors since it helps the oil climb up through the gears, but might be not so great when the speeds increase.

Looks like the test was flawed he put too much Lucas Stabilizer in its supposed to be 1 quart for every 5 or 4, I forget.

I like how they use like 10w/50 oil labeled "Lucus" and 5w/30 oil named "Other" just to make it very noticable when you mess with it. :drinking:
