As some of you know i just got my Solara and im thinking of doing some minor mods. Should i buy a k&n drop in filter or just go for the cai? Whats the best way to lower the car and not spend too much money? Thanks

It depends what you demands are... I dont think we got an HKS drop in. K&N are simple, but you get no fun out of it. Yet its cheap. CAI youll have more fun out of it, but cost more.. Its really what you demand of.

For our car, Anything performance wise isnt worth it. Our car just cost allot to get any power fun out of it. Some members even stated that a 4lb supercharger didnt meet up to their expectations.. To me nothings worth it anymore other then looks and handling. All the pennies I blown on my car on performance got me no where. Looks like rims and all gets me more fun.

Just to reach about 300 crank hp, I'm going to or have spent around $2000 in parts and labor. :o So, it all depends on what your goals are. If you're serious about more power than get the CAI, if not get the TRD drop-in. :D

Get the CAI if you want more out of it and if you don't care too much just buy a K&N Drop in and take out the big white resonator behind your driver side fog light. . . so you can get a little deeper tone when you're flooring it

You make it sound like you can get intake + cai extension kit easy. Well i have been wanting one by UPFD new or used for like a year now, always delayed further by the shop and used ones tend to go to people screaming dibs 1st 2nd etc and strangely not going to highest paying buyer here.
Just get a kn drop-in filter for now and battle out buying a cai intake kit with me and a few others when one shows up. Goodluck with whatever you do, both options should yield fun results and not dissappoint you. good day.

We'll see. For labor on the MAF kit, injectors, fuel pump, crank pulley, S-AFCII, and 5.5 pulley it was estimated around $950. I hope it doesn't go over that too much. A lot of the parts, I've think that I got pretty good deals. I still haven't hit the dyno yet and I will be getting a few more parts...so it'll probably get closer $2500.

Well. . .FWIW, first I'd make sure my tires are correctly inflated, air cleaner is clean, coolant is fresh, injectors are clear, and that you're running the highest octane that your engine can utilize.

Since you have a new engine (except for the gasoline and tire pressure), none of the above should be applicable.

Remember, by buying 91+ octane vs 87, you're getting an additional 20 HP for $3 a tank.

AHaha I dont think 91 octane will get you 20 horse extra on a stock motor with an intake...

And XLr8.... If he delays so much why dont you try making one your own on the extension. You make it sound like its so hard..

Where did you hear this? I highly doubt this is possible.
