Okay, I've done some searching and this is what I've come up with:
The outlets only have power when the car is on.

My question is even with the above statement, is it safe to leave my electronics plugged in after I turn the car off? It's just a hastle to have to remove them every time I get out of my car.

I leave my Cellphone charger in all the time. No issues. It's just like the cig lighter is on a switch.

just make sure it's only 12v

Yes! I leave my radar detector at on position and inserted in the ciglighter hole.
