I probably sound like a retard but what is that white thing for in the first place? If i just took it out with out doing that stuff yet will i get the deeper tone effect? Also guys when im doing about 65 70 and i hit the gas the car doesnt really jump, it downshift but you dont feel it that much. Is this normal?

From all the testing I have done. . . Around 70-80 the Solara is really sluggish. . . thats why it sucks on high end. . . The big white thing is the resonator and all it does it make the intake quieter. . . now when you floor it you should notice a difference in sound

Does buying higher octane really give you an increase in horsepower? I th ought it was just for going up hills or something.

haha no. . . higher octance is only to prevent cars from pre detonation which will cause knocking and that is only needed for high compression cars or force inducted

Water will never reach up there unless your planning on driving through deep puddles really fast or your going to take it through a lake

Where did you hear this? I highly doubt this is possible.

Sure. The comparison is the V6 on 87 vs 91 octane. Ignition timing, and possibly other variables, is/are retarded enough to cost roughly twenty horsepower. Of course, this isn't 20 HP at all engine speed, 'natch.

Your car will still run fine on regular gas; it just won't be running at full potential.
