I thought some people added exhausts and said they actually felt a loss in power for solaras?

i think what they were primarily talking about when they spoke of loss power is the low-end torque. however, if you read closely, you will notice ALOT of them saying that they gained more hp at high-end.

Yep.. At higher RPM I do feel the powe there.. Thats if your car is rolling already.. Our cars depend on Tq allot to push our heavy weight. Our factory Tq on the V6 is just find as is, but for that racing performance stuff, that stock Tq isnt enough sometimes. Specially when your talking about Low end performance like turns and such.. To me personally I dont think I can sacrifice any Tq.. Yet I have because of the exhaust..... You have to go through it to really feel it and know it..

dude s/c all they way... save your money... intake/exhaust is about 1/3 of a s/c ... s/c means supercharger.... s/c go for about 3000 installed..... if you got a stick then you should be able to beat most car out there....

Haha..I dont know if its even 1/3 the power.. Its more like 1/4 or 1/5 the power base on 5 speed..

I say save your money and go hang out. Solara last better and feels great stock....Once you touch the motor...Oh man credit card goes bammmm

The auto trans does not put as much power to the wheels as the MT, especially after the S/C. Read up on some of the old posts and you'll find a few people were disappointed with the money they spent on S/C + install with the AT.

Perhaps another route to take modifying your car would be to invest in some lowering springs, struts and a RSB. Then find a decent set of "lightweight" 17 or 18" wheels.

Unless you are willing to go all the way with S/C, full exhaust, fuel mods and then get it all tuned...

resonator removal

Postby Sentinel » Wed Sep 14, 2005 5:42 am

I had heard that removing the resonator killed low end power.

No. The upper and lower intake resonators can be removed w/o any noticable power/torque shift. It is a little louder.

An short ram intake or y-pipe mod will shift the power/torque curve.
