Ask Mr. Owl. Or is that just for the "How many licks to get to the Tootsie Roll cente of a Tootsie Pop"?

All kidding aside, is there a speed governor beyond the rev limiter?

i hit 127 in my car and was only at about 5500 so i think we can get past the 130-135 mark, it all depends on how u drive it and watch the revs

Ive jammed out 134ish and gave up. It was taking too long to max out. There was a teenager awhile back who made a clip and ran 137 stock on an automatic with people in the car..

It is limited to 137 MPH. It comes from 220KPH which is used for something else :-? . I've done this a couple times. Eric had a speed delimiter that bypassed the limiter. That is how he had gone so fast. My car is still accelerating at 137MPH and when the limiter kicks in, it really throws you forward. -JoeB

Yeah well Joe, we don't all have cars that fast :P lol.

But in my experince going straight I've hit 130 and going partially down a bridge 132 and I couldn't kick past that.

After I put on my injen I haven't taken it past 125 because...

A) it feels a lot more like I'm at my limit with the injen on

and

B) it's so much louder and speeding up so slowly it scares the crap out of me

and

C) I've hit 132... I have no need to get back there until I can do it with performance modifications, the consistant high RPMs aren't god for my car, so why subject it to that?

Now I usually don't ever go over 100 anymore. Every once in a while I'l do it on the highway to thrill someone in the car, or now and then if I have to get somewhere, but other than that I don't jump over 85-90 anymore, usually stay around 80 on the highway.

On a side note if you DO take it up to 130, you'll be amazed how slow 80-90 feels. I think 80 feels slow now anyway, but it's just my opinion. I have to get over 100 to feel like I'm really movin.

Also if you take it up that high with someone in the car, just think of how scary it si for you, and you're in control. Then consider what they're going through not being in control. At 130 you start to feel liek you're about to take off like in an airplane, so it's pretty fun. I'd say try it once anyhow.

I have an old Motor Trend magazine with the Solara vs. Acura 3.0 CL. way back in the day and it says 131mph governed for a 99 model. Im my Camry, I've gone up to about 130mph but not too sure since i was watching the road more than the speedo.

Chris, those speeds don't have anything to do with what you are governed at, those are just the speeds the car is capable of because of it's power.

Trust me, you'll know when it is governed. The ECU does a fuel cut and it is almost like something just broke in the car, definitely noticeable. If you are wondering if you've hit the limiter or not, you haven't. -JoeB
