Removing side decals

Removing side decals

Postby Ferrari_1299 » Tue Dec 31, 2002 1:35 pm

I was wondering if the side decals were stuck on with adhesive, or if they snapped in? Can you heat them up and
peel them off, or do they need to be shaved off?

I took mine off when I bought the car. They were attached by adhesive.

u know....i'm thinking i'm just gonna shave the ugly TOYOTA emblem in the upper left hand corner of the trunk..it doesn't look proportionate to the rest of the emblems (ie...the toyota symbol and the solara logo balance each other...then the toyota just sorta floats on top...lol...it's a chick thing..although, if i could get rid of the key hole then it would be better..maybe i could paint it black  )

Yea thats the first thing i flossed off my car. Im toying with the idea of removing the "Solara" as well, to make a smoother bottom and add a little mystery :fadein:

hey, congrats bassthrive..i think u have the first post of 2003!! (i know..big whoop :P )

see...i luv the solara logo..sadly enough, that's what originally made me luv the car..i don't know what it is. it just looks so nice. it's definitely the rear end of car w/ the spoiler and stuff that made me fall in love w/ it. i'd hate to take it off. the toyota thing tho and maybe the toyota logo could go, but i'd hate to see the solara go

I shaved off all of the emblems using a blowdryer and fishing line. Fishing line along didn't cut it. If I was at home I'd post pictures of the bare trunk. I think it looks very clean and almost looks custom. But I am at work so no pics. Damn working on a holliday. But you HAVE to love making $43.60 an hour!!!! :o I should have signed up for 12 hours!

Okay I took the decals off and now I can't get the left over adhesive off. What did you use to get that off? :-?

Heat it up with a blow dryer and just rub it with your thumb.

I tried that it worked on all the decals except one side. It is really hard and will not come off. I went to Pepboys and bought adhesive remover and it still won't come off. :x
