Tape Deck

Tape Deck

Postby Solara916 » Sat Sep 17, 2005 6:21 pm

Sup guys...

This might be a stupid question, but I wanna make sure i do the right thing.

I have the stock JBL system in my 00 Solara, and I've been connecting my iPod via the tape deck. Lately, the tape thing that connects from the iPod to the head unit has been making a lot of noise. I just wanna know if I can get rid of that noise by getting a cleaner for the tape deck, or if my connector is just jacked up.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank's

what up?

I don't no what kind of noise you are hearing but if it is like a scratchy loose reception noise then a good tape cleaner should help clear it up. Had that happen with my XM radio to tape deck reciever.
I see your in Sac too. Hit me up if you want to talk or something.

I'm connecting my iPod via the tape deck as well ... been doing that since I had a '94 Suzuki Samurai 5-spd :D Try this out ... if you jiggle the wire near the connector itself without moving the connector within the iPod and it makes more noise, you should probably fix the connector (or just buy a new tape adapter). If not, clean the tape deck.

Hell, just clean the tape deck anyway because it's good practice :) Actually, you can also clean the metal thing on the tape adapter, since it's very similar to the read head of the tape deck.

I still have my stock unit in my car as well, but I use an airplay radio transmitter for my ipod.

I hate the damn thing, it's scratchy when I'm not incertain areas. Like if I drive south around lauderdale or miami, or not even thjat far it won't hardly work and it's mostly static. I know it seems like it would have nothing to do with something that's always in your car while it's transmitting, but I guess there's just more radio waves and crap flyin around down there to interfere.

So I've been considering getting the tape adapter. I suppose even if it craps out soon, it's not like I lsiten to tapes in my car. I'll probably be getting a new head unit sometime in the not too distant future anyway. I bought the ipod and airplay when I had my 92 camry with a head unit in it that received the signal from the airplay much better than the solara does.

Of cours eI think that would also change with a new head unit. I think a lot of things, and sometimes I think about how long it's been sinc eI've had cinnamon toast crunch. wow.

Anyway, that wasn't even an opinion or helpful or anything I don't think. Except for don't get airplay I guess unless you live in certain areas that allow a better singal reception, which I don't understnad how you could determine without trying it.
