Throttle Body Spacer

Throttle Body Spacer

Have any of you guys tried putting a throttle body spacer in your Solara? My friend put one in his Civic and he had a pretty good gain of power and because of that I'm interested in getting one. Tell me what your opinion is...

your civic friend probably also told you he got a huge gain from his fart can and Type-R stickers.

though I remember reading somewhere that they work well with large displacement engines, I still think for our application a tb spacer is a waste of money, just like the tornado fuel saver and those ebay MAF resistors.

haha yeah I never saw how that spacer will work but i guess if you extend it than the volume in the intake manifold is increased. . . i think owell

the spacer is designed to increase runner length and change your power band

Yeah, theres something on the inside of it, grooves that I think make the air spiral. I dont know the purpose though.

If there are indeed grooves to make the air spiral, it's done so that the air becomes more compressable. The more air is compressed the more power you get. (Although, I'm only bassing my knowledge on this based on what they taught us on the Blackhawk engine's...I'm not a mechanic, so I could be wrong).

The thing I dont get is that how can there be compression of air in the intake manifold? More specifically, how is this compression achieved by simply enlarging the volume of the intake chamber?

There is vaccuum in a N/A engine intake. Unless you run FI you will not see boost.

Sounds like it adds as much power as coolant throttle bypass...
