I like mine with no shine? Flat Black

I have always had a soft spot, for a good clean flat black no clear paint job.

Flat black, Smoke Tint, Chrome Rims.

Something similiar to this.

IMHO I think it looks good on classics, like 70's and older. On a solara, it would be a bit ugly, I think. The solara is a classy car, let it shine!

Since flat black doesnt come from the factory I wil call it an aftermarket upgrade.

This forum is pretty biased I have learned.

Mossy - flat black paint on a solara

A post with no pics is hard for others to imagine. Even if you put another car in it's place to give an example. Post some pics of your flat black solara and the members will give you their own personal opinion.

The forum is not biased! If you post something, expect others to critique. That's what makes us who we are. Honestly, if you don't want an honest opinion from someone, don't ask for it.

As I said in greeensolara's thread

To each their own!

Mossy,

Mod your car the way you like it bro! I'm pretty certain that you've modded your car to your own liking and not anyone else's. That's what really matters most!

P.S. Have you done this? If so, show us some pics of your flat black solara.

Yeah, I've always felt that a flat black car looks like it's just waiting to be painted. BUT, given that, it can still look pretty cool.

Also, apparently, Mythbusters busted the idea of flat black paint having a deterrent effect on radar/laser. Check it out:

Episode 18: Beat the Radar Detector
Jamie and Adam look into the myth about the construction worker who, while holding a piece of plywood, is blown from his building by a gust of wind and falls several stories, only to be swept back onto a lower floor. Then the crew tests several speed-radar-busting tricks, including hanging a disco ball from the rearview mirror, covering the car entirely with aluminum foil, and painting the car with flat black paint to scatter the radar's laser beams.

Yes, do what you want -like Michael says. There will always be negative comments, so don't let that hold you back on what you want. Don't ever do mods on your car based on what others think. :D It's your money, your car, and your ideas. I think flat black does look good on some cars, but I too am not sure how it would look on a Solara...please post pics it you do this.

I saw a flat black older Taurus done up like an OCP (READ: Robocop) police car.

Who says you can't polish a turd?

But in the end, all you're left with is a shiny piece of crap.

Yeah, but you can put it on a metal necklace and sell it to rich house-wives on QVC

flat black looks like primer.

THey did a flat black STi in Sport Compact Car a few months ago and I didnt understand it since it looked...unfinished. The eds. in the mag thought it was "mean," so I guess to each his own.

I remember that episode :P

And there was an STi in one of the import car mags (maybe it was Super Street) that was done flat black. That was beautiful, IMO. The Solara, however, probably wouldn't look as good :-?
