You may have followed the drama of the Gen 2 intakes. cp-e is the little guy trying to make a market. I'd say they were a bit slow getting the pipes shipped for us, but Injen took 9 months... so I guess 3 is not so bad. Anyway... now as they are just about to ship ours, they got a Gen 1 into their shop. They're going to proto a MAFci system like they did for Gen2 and see if some horses appear.

Just starting the buzz now to see if you guys care about yet another intake system. (though it is more than just that.) By the time there's any results, the Gen 2 guys will be able to give you more feedback. And hopefully Josh at cp-e will get the Gen1 guy to jump on SG and post results.

Check out cp-e.com for more info on what the system does. For you, I imagine you might get a 3.5" pipe out of the deal. Noone can do that without the AFC part.

Yeah, it's a SRI, not cold but they haven't got the car yet so you never know. No S/C needed. And putting in their AFC chip makes and making it a quality pipe with the best parts and filter bumps it up to a price that demands some good power. Our's is just under $500. So it's gotta beat the competition on more than looks to warrant that. (unless you're really into under the hood looks.)
They also have a tunable chip so you can hook up that laptop and tune to any other mod like headers, etc.
I'll keep this thread updated w/ any news so watch it if you're at all interested. (or if your Corona buzz wears off)

Since you tune the MAF with that product, will that cause a problem if you also have a SAFC or Split Second FTC?

Or I guess I am asking is it redundant to have an air/fuel controller and also a MAF controller?

down2thec, im sorry if you feel like im stepping on you toes.

I called cp-e today to get more info regarding the MAFci system for gen 1s. They are for the V6. I spoke with Anthony who said that they should be done in 3 or 4 weeks, hopefully sooner. He siad that so far the gains look promising, but couldn't give me any specifics. I also asked about CARB, for us CA guys, and Anthony said that they are not ready to certify yet but maybe in a few months. Just wanted to let you all know.

Thanks

The "Customizer" does two things... Converts the signal to accomodate for the higher cross section pluss they lean out the over-rich mix and find the most efficient map for the stock setup. So I guess it would be redundant. For Mazda, I believe they sell the intake alone. So if you can tune already, maybe you could buy just the pipe. But if they jump to 3.5" like the Gen 2, you'll have to bump up your map accordingly. If you run your MAF in a 3.5" pipe without telling the ECU, you'll fry the engine. (You'd run ultra-lean anyway.)
