Hey now, it sounded like he (mossy) meant that we should expect lower prices, which I was not doing. I think 25% off is a bit extreme too, don't accuse me of being cheap when you didn't read into the post!

chris is right... the product comes out because the demand (appearantly) was there. Now it's time to pay MSRP until clearance times hit... everything in life can't be discounted... this is why vendors begin to run...

25% off would mean it's near cost... meaning it's not even worth the time to promote the product and sell it because this is probably the only time the product will move... with a few here and there afterward. If you really want it, pay retail.

I was not saying try and low ball him.

I was just saying. Maybe he will give you a lower price on the item. You have no idea, who the seller is how much they pay, where they are from. So who knows. Don't set a price.

It's like @ a yard sale/ swap meet/ flea market.

Buyer: How much for the SKY HOOK?
Seller: How much will you give me for it?
Buyer: 10 dollars.
Seller: SOLD!!! (Thinks to himself, Who the heck is gonna hook the sky??? I would have taken a Nickel)

It's a plastic made overseas. It is way cheaper than 200 dollars.

This is funny, we are the consumers trying to determine the price. I do think 200 without shipping is a bit much. And 45 bucks for shipping? I paid 6 bucks for shipping on clear corners. I can see maybe 15 bucks for the bigger box and extra weight. I think we are being taken advantage of. But on the flip side I do love my car and I do like the product so if there is a group buy Im totatly in!

ok guys go to toyota and get a set of oem corners and headlights over $400

now your crying about these being tooo expensive
$250 shipped is cheap for a brand new set of headlights and corners.

I already asked him how much to buy 20 sets straight out

the group buy stuff does not fly with ebay people too well

Price

Postby JMSinMaryland » Sun Sep 25, 2005 9:05 pm

I agree, demand will definitely keep up with supply and there is no reason for them to reduce the price. On the other hand comparing these to OEM is apples and oranges. I for one would probably spend some extra money and seal them up with clear silicone and cross my fingers that it fits well. Jon.

Nice deal Mark. It'll be interesting to see how that works out.

I'm also part of the group that thinks trying to get a cheaper price in a groupbuy is kinda cheap and very reflectant on how the Solara community usually acts. I haven't had the car or been on this forum THAT long, but it is VERY easy to notice lack of support for aftermarket products, and the extreme lack of followthru by many people on here. In my opinion those are some sick headlights set at a very good price. If they came on ebay for 300 plus shipping would you ask the seller to do groupbuys at 250 and then be happy if you got them @ that price, or would you still ask 150 because you think it's the right price. Up until now something like this had to be custom done with OEM stuff from Toyota that would cost so much more. I'm saying the whole idea is bass ackwards and I don't think it's right. It's only my small opinion and doesn't count for much. But really, how long have Solara owners been waiting for these? And how long after they came out did we try and lowball someone for a groupbuy that half the peopel probably wouldn't end up putting their money into anyway? I mean I'm all for groupbuys on new things like the Megan Racing headers deal. That however, is also a VERY different situation as we're trying to get somethign made for us. I just can't believe someone comes out with something people on here have been hurting for for so long, and even at a decent price and people are basicly going "uhhhhh, can you do a little better?"

Of course if the guy straight up says he'll offer a discount for a group buy, anyone planning on purchasing would be foolish not to go with that. I would. It would be stupid to pay more if it's right there in front of you just because you feel everyone should have paid the asking price in the first place. But I never would have initiated, or even though about group buys on this one.

I know I'm venting and it's not meant to be personal to anyone, but the whole thing is really indicative of just being greedy. If everyone who always started and got in on groupbuys always paid up on here and we had a good reputation for that it wouldn't bother me so much. It just gets annoying to be represented in every facet as a group of people who want parts made but won't pay enough for things for anyone to make a decent profit so peopel either lose money or don't make any and no longer want to do anything for us. I know it's an ebay vendor who's probably making a good amount of money, and he apparantly deals in automotiv lighting so it's not liek it's going to effect other things being made. However there was some kind of initiative on his part to make this even possible, and god knows where he got them from (besides Mark) but it's still the same idea in principle.

Sorry if I pissed anyone off, but does anyone really severely disagree?

Condensation and fit would be a concern for me. I think they will be as bright because the reflector appears to be unchanged.

Cool product, when are they making more?
