EL Guage Issues

Postby Pab6000 » Thu Sep 29, 2005 12:00 pm

I reciently instsalled some EL reverse halo glow guages. The install was easy enough but I have problems with them and have a couple of questions.
First. I noticed they have a proctective film on the face. When I installed them, I tightened the screws on the face too tight causing this film to twist and buckle a little. Would It do any harm to just peel the film off alltogether?
Secondly. When I turned them on, only one guage worked. Pissed, tore the whole thing apart and was able to determine that the guages were fine. The problem is the power inverter. It has a string with three connectors on it for the guages. I only seem to be getting power to the first connector (closest to the inverter) and not the others. Has this happened to anyone? Could I possibly cut the connectors and wire them directly? Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

first, i'd try and ask the seller if he'd be willing to exchange it. not too sure about the 2nd gauge not working, but as far as the screws and the film on the gauges are concerned, i did the same thing and i just left the film on top. it doesn't really bother me much...

Yeah just installed mine.
And the film twists alittle bit.
But i have rewired it to just shine electric blue instead of blue and green. :D

Thanks guys. I'll probably leave mine alone too. I wasn't too keen on the idea tearing the whole thing apart when I saw the film. I'll probably have to though. I talked to the seller and they were cool with exchanging it.
