Short Circuit

Postby xyntax » Mon Jan 06, 2003 4:57 pm

I guess it was bound to happen...I short circuited my top cigarette lighter plug accidentally as i tried to tap in something. Now that plug doesnt work, my clock is off, my electronic control for the sidemirrors are not working, and probably a couple of things aren't working that I'm not aware of.

Are you laughing? Yeah well, I still am. I knew this was gonna happen to my car soon, good thing it's nothing crucial.

Can anyone help me? Do you think I might have blown a fuse or something? Gunman? :(

You definately blew a fuse. Your fuse panel is located on the drivers side. Its to the left of the steering wheel behind the pull down change compartment

Oh great. So I wasnt just hearing things then. I thought I heard a sparky sound on that area. So how do I know which one I blew? I can't just pull each on right? By the way, I have been opening and checking stuff there but I have never seen a fuse or fuse box there. Where is it exactly? Do I need to remove something in order to see it? Thanks for the response yanks.

I thought so too. I've opened two fuse boxes there. So the 3rd one is hiding behind the change compartment? How do I remove the change compartment?

Pull it down so it sits open and then tug.

Hahah! That would have been funny. No, it's just a black shirt underneath and I didnt plan to wear that jacket (which I kept in my car). I wore it coz it was cold and windy at Universal Studios when we went there.

I fixed the problem! I got the spare 15amp fuse from the engine's long fusebox. I guess I will have to buy a couple spares this time. Who knows what I might break next.

Thanks for your help Yanks and all Solaraguys who responded.

No problem. Its always good to have fuses around because they are so easy to blow and you never know when you'll need them.

That's a good idea, has anyone done that? If so how would I do it?
