Tire/Wheel Size

Cool. I'll start looking into it...I'd still like to go a bit larger than the '16s but not at the sake of making it look bad. I'll see. Thanks again for the help-

One more thing...what would anyone think of just going with the '17s on the OEM springs/struts over the OEM '16s? Which one of these two would you all prefer or think would look best?

Your OEM 16's would look best with stock suspension. Larger wheels i.e. 17 and larger look silly on an OEM suspension.

I have 17s and I am happy with them. they look better than stock and they are also not overboard. Right now they are on OEM springs/struts, but i do have plans to change to tokico/eibach.

Mine is a daily drive and I felt going with 18s would affect ride quality too much. It is personal preference.

Looks good Optimus- See I need new tires right now and want to get new wheels while I'm at it. I'll probably upgrade to the iebachs/tokicos in a year or a littler thereafter anyways because the OEM's will need to be replaced by then. So I think I can probably do just fine for a year or so with '17s on the OEM springs/struts. Tuff call though...it's hard to tell just seeing pictures. The safe bet would be to go with the '16s...like you mentioned, flipside. damn...

Upgrade the wheels and tires last...

Solara looks like a 4x4 on OEM.

I do miss RWD... I used to have 95 Mustang GT convertible.. I hope you live somewhere warm, because RWDs are bitch to drive in snow... That's how I lost my Stang.. Damn snow!

dbanker - i recommend going for the 17s (or larger, if desired) w/ tires now. You save money in the long run. It really does not look bad. Wheels and tires make among the most dramatic difference in looks and even performance.

If you need new tires anyways, now is the time to do it. don't waste money on new tires and then buying wheels and tires again later.

I hope you aren't considered buying custom 16s. that truly would be a waste. I recommend using OEM wheels w/ snow or all seasons and then the larger custom wheels with high performance tires. Especially if you are in Colarado, you don't want snow/salt/chains etc. on nice wheels.

Yeah thats what I'm thinking, Optimus. I want to get new wheels/tires so I can use my OEM '16s during the winter. And I'm thinking '17s are the size I want to go with, deifnitely not custom '16s. After looking at your car with the '17s on stock struts/springs I think it looks great...I'll be going with new struts/springs soon anyways so I'll be fine.

Now I just have to figure out which ones to go with. I'm thinking Konig Blatants or Verdicts and Michelin Pilot Sport XGT 114s...I'll have to look around though a bit. There's several other wheels that I like as well. After looking at your car though I feel more comfortable about doing this without lowering for now.

Allright- I've decided to go ahead and get the '17s. Mainly due to the road condtions out here and that I drive very often.

Now I just need to decide if I want to go with wheels 17 x 7 or 17 x 7.5. And if I want to get tires 225/45/17 or possibly 215/50-17. Now, I want to have a wider tire/wheel but am not going to go over either the 7.5s for the wheel or the 225s for the tire. What would you all recommend? Can I do either a 17x7 or 17x7.5 on a 225/45/17 tire? Or would you recommend something else? Thanks-

17X7 with 235/45/17 is what I would go with if I were going with 17's.

Wouldn't the 235/45/17 pose more of a threat for rubbing over the 225/45/17? Several people I've talked to said to be careful going any size over 225's.
