Airbag light has been coming on - What to do?

My airbag light has been coming on a little bit lately. I think the sensor is going bad. I knotice it came one time and i hit my horn and the light went off. Then today it came back on and I hit the horn again and this time it didnt go off. I shut the car down and restarted it and the light didnt come back on. Can anybody explain this or have any ideas what i need to do to take care of the matter?

If it comes on again and you get paranoid about it... have it checked out... you might have to replace it

Id have it checked out... i wouldnt want the airbag to not go off when needed.... safety first brotha

....or the opposite way around where the airbag blows in your face while driving.

That can lead to negative outcomes.

^ yeah i hope it doesnt go that route. It hasnt came on today so we will see. I dont think anybody can do much to figure out the problem unless if it starts to stay on all the time. I think im gonna let the issue go

That's usually what happens with my car too... Are the connectors under the seat just plain junk or what?

turns on immediately after startup, but goes away after about two seconds though...

only really notice it after someone recently pushed the passenger seat forward on the rails...

mine comes on at random times. i havnt noticed it for the past couple weeks but sure enough i start my car today and there it is. this has been happening since i bought my car. take it to a dealer and theyll do a diagnostic check on it, just to be safe. they didnt find anything wrong with mine so im not worried. the flashing red bubble guy is my friend now.

Quick (but I noticed not permanent) fix: Go under the passenger seat and tighten the connection of all the wires (and do driver's side just to be sure).

air bag light on

Postby kumadrift » Tue Mar 28, 2006 8:46 pm

i finally got my air bag light checked after a few months thinking that it will ok . well heres the story. i drive into tunnels and i always honk my horn, well this time it didnt honk adnit always honked before. after that it came off and on and then finally it never honked anymore and the air bag light came on.

fianlly i got it checked and the mech said it was diagnose code of B0101

heres what the mech wrote

B0101 air bag light on advise/ also horn inop
open circut between fuse box adn horn pad
need further diagnosis also code b0101 open in drivers squib system

he said the cost to fix it was $1,323.

damn, tell me what these things mean and i'll fix it myself. man is there anything that can help with this. thanks im sure some u guys have this prob too.

heres a chart of somekind that might be of some use

Way to dig up the dead with this post, but it beats 2 year-old posts when I first joined (in other words, beware of flaming).

Anyway, sounds like anything from a loose wire to a defective sensor, so it might be something that can be done with a junkyard visit and being VERY car-savvy (you don't want to mess around with safety equipment unless you're VERY careful and have some training), so it's more recommended to bring it to a mechanic.
