I have good and bad news.

Good news we were able to tune the car and runs great. Bad news my boost controller is not working properly and I cant raise boost. :x The car dynoed at 282 WHP at 7-8psi! :o I'll have to pick it up from the dyno shop tomorrow and find out whats wrong with the boost controller.

I willl be at MIR but there may be no point in racing since I know I'll be running similar 1/4 mile times when I was supercharged.

Aint it always the way. Great to hear you are almost there. Talk about chomping on the bit for the rest of the boost. 7-8 lbs barely moves that big turbo and 282 I am sure still feels nice. Get some good vid of JB hitting a 12s time- and if he doesn't, then just bust on him to make plans for a turbo! Have fun and get some sleep!!

Thanks bro. I'm sorry to disappoint you guys. The tuner was surprised how quickly the turbo spools and said the car is very responsive. 14psi will be in its efficiency range.

No disappointment Rizal. Unchartered waters for a 5spd 1mz motor. You are doing great. With your compression 14 will come nicely and 20 will be optimum. You and your tuner are going to have to keep the faith a little longer and it will be motoring uforia!!

No worries, just get that boost controller running properly and youll start seeing the numbers you were hoping for.

Just for reference, Tony the Tiger made 392whp and 371 lb/ft at 16psi with his automatic 1MZ T66 turbocharged Camry... I figure that without the drivetrain losses of an auto, 400whp should be no problem for you Rizal, even at lower boost than Tony.

In comparing, yea the manual should make up for the fact Tony is running higher 10.5:1 compression. With more room in the pistons you should be able to run more boost than Tony- it is just a matter of tuning it! Keep it up Rizal.

Thanks for the words of encouragement fellas. After talking to a lot of the turbocharged racers this past weekend I've decided to go with a manual boost controller. 6 out of the 8 racers I've talked to recommend I go with the manual. The reason behind this is consistant boost and no worries of the solenoid going bad compared to an electronic boost controller. The upside to an electronic boost controller is to adjust hi and low boost from inside the car at a push of a button. Downside to a manual boost controller is having to park the car to the side and raise the boost at a twist of a knob.

We'll install manual boost controller tomorrow and if all goes well we dyno Wednesday morning at 14-15psi. Stay tuned.
