A dumb question about tires

Hey guys, I know this prolly sounds stupid but i just wanna make sure before i spend 400 bux.

I wanna buy winter tires. I'm thinking of getting Dunlop M3. Winters in CT do not have THAT much snow and for the most part roads are either wet or dry. For that reason, I wanted to get wider tires (i know that winter tires should be narrower).

I'm gonna be putting them on my stock 16's Is it ok if i put 215/55/16 instead of 205/60/16. The section width of dunlops is 8.9in vs michelins' 8.4in. I'm pretty sure I should be fine, but i just wanna make sure.

for snow tires, its better to get thinner tires than wider.

thinner being able to go through slush and ice easier.

Get the 60s

Theyll be cheaper, and theyll be more effective. You dont buy snow tires for looks, you get them for function.

In fact, if your running stock rims, and you plan to keep a set of snow wheels instead of having to remount them, you should buy a set of 15" steelies and put some 65s on.

For CT, Even A/S tires should be ok, but if you need dedicated winter tires due to your main set being summer, go with snow tires.

Yea i think i'm gonna go with 205/60/16 just cuz they are cheaper.
I want to have set of winter tires and a set of summer tires. It does not make sense for me to spend extra money on 15 inch wheels since i can just use my stock 16's. And then i'm gonna get a set of nice ones with summer rubber.

whoa its another CT resident, i would definatly get some good snow tires cause i have a bad feeling about this winter..
