Air condition

Is it possible to interchange the round climate controls from an SE to the digital climate in an SLE

I was wondering that the other day. I think its very possible and it shouldn't be hard either, it would just be a matter of getting the climate control. Maybe a junk yard would have it, not sure though. All that connects to the current temperature control in the SE is a giant wire harness which should be interchangable

i found AUTO TEMP,W-OUTSIDE TEMP (i guess thats the climate control) for $200 go there select solara then heater/ac control and automatic

they do have one,but I dont want to buy one unless I know it will work.

Someone mentioned long time ago, and said that it's not worth the hassle and money to do the work.

Yes its possible, it entails more than just what you said...its expensive, and not worth the conversion.

I have the auto temp unit in my 99SLE and its a pain. I wish I just had reagular heat and AC. I am constantly messing with the thing, if you want hot air in the winter you have to turn on the AC and set it to the temp you want and the amount of heat you get is based on the temp outside. The same is true in the summer it's aways too hot or too cold so your alsways messing with it. It's my least favorite feature on my car.
Leave yours the way it is simple is good.

I've got climate control on my ES, you do know you can SET your own fan speed too? meaning...run your climate control like a regular a/c or heat.

Like in the summers (in my ES): i set it lowest temp (COLD). and then just use one fan setting...rather than have the computer play with different setting of the fan..

I wish my solara had climate control...because with that you can still use like a regular a/c (ie. if you sooo choose).

yea I can do it that way but it still requires me to mess with it every couple of minuites becuse the amonut and temp of the air is constantly changing. The automantic system is too automatic for my taste.

I feel the same way. I love how simple the manual one is to set, and i feel i can get the best results for cooling down and heating up the car easily but for maintianing a constant temperature the climate control is much better

really?? i luv the climate control. although it is a pain to try to adjust it. i did accidently run over curb one day taking this sharp turn on a tilted downward slope b/c i miss judged where the street was as i was playing w/ the dial

although, the one thing that confuses me w/ the climate control is the auto button. how do i set it so that i press auto and it's the settings i want? i've been too lazy to get my manual out, so i just change the climate control as i go.

like let's say i wanna set it for 80degrees w/ only the lower fan on half power. how do i program it so that i press "auto" and it's that setting. my auto feature always seems to be a different setting.

(i'm saying this from my Es perspective, so solara's could be different...but not too different...)
By pressing Auto, you forgo the option to press/select the fan speed. You can adjust the temp and just close/open the vents. Anything besides that, you are on manual control (ie. auto sign will dissapear). Fo you missey..You can set your temp to 80 (have the vent close/open) to your setting..and just press fan to turn on...and OFF to turn off (hoping all this is same in most toyota's...).

yup, sounds like the same
im a big fan of using the auto feature though, just set the temp, turn a/c on or off and leave it (just like the thermostat in your house)
