Normal idle rpm on cold mornings?

Normal idle rpm on cold mornings?

Postby awesomeapproved » Sun Nov 20, 2005 6:19 pm

The mornings have been getting colder these past few weeks and with the cooling temps I've noticed that my Solara idles at around 1200-1500 for quite awhile. Is this normal?

Do any of you folks experience a high idle speed when starting? It isnt like this idle issue goes away after 10 seconds or something. It stays like that for a good 5 minutes, or until I start driving it and therefore stop paying attention to the idle speed. Any info you may be able to provide is appreciated.

Thanks,
AA

mine idles around 2k on the first start up, but it drops to 1.5 quick. after about 3minutes or so it'll be down about 7 hundred.

It runs at a higher rpm to warm the engine up to operating temperature faster. Its ok dont worry about it!
