Sorry guys... didn't mean to send you to sticker shock without a warning. The Gen 2 guys and I have already been through that chat and I forgot to bring you up to speed.
The price is higher than slapping a <3" POS pipe on because it's not just the pipe. The ci in MAF-ci is the "customizer" as they call it. Basically an AFC that has a map flashed in to tune the stock Solara V6 to take the 3.5" pipe and optimize the mixture for power without a CEL. The stock MAF stays and moves to the bigger pipe. But with the bigger pipe it sees lower velocity and the engine gets less resistance sucking air. (see the pics on the site and this post ==>
http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=20733) Also, the pipe itself is better quality. They outsource only the mandril bending and the powdercoating. Everything else is in shop and high quality. Also, for the money, the sound of the 3.5" pipe is incredible. Way better than a muffler that costs about the same. So if you're starting from stock it's a sweet choice.
I'm not sure if "free breathing" is better or worse than "choked breathing with cold air". So if you have the CAI rigged, there's no evidence what your boost would be. Since they had to do a heat shield anyway, maybe they'd go the extra step if enough folks ask. They design and machine everything in house so point them to some existing designs for ideas.
If anyone that has an intake buys this, please dyno or go to the track before and after install and share the results. (I did.)
So if you're stock, I'd highly recommend this if you can afford it. If you have an intake already, I'd prolly wait for reactions and then consider upgrading. That old Injen will sell on ebay.

Sorry for the novel.
