Screaming belt

Wonder if anyones got an idea why I got a noisy belt when the car is cold. Once the car warms up after about 10 miles its fine. Only 25,000 kms on the car. It is colder now with an inch of snow if that helps. Not sure which one it is when looking under the hood, but it seems like one of the smaller ones on the left side - lol - not too engine savvy
thanks!

How much does it cost to have the tensioner replaced? Mine needs tightening but now I'm worried I should have it done sooner then later - tighting should only be $30-50? But if it's busted, I'd like to go in knowing a ball park number?

You can use "STP Belt antisqueak".
That what i use when the weather gets rainy; and i hear it squeak, then i spray it on there and it gone.

I'll have to try that once the midwest thaws in a few months :P

Mine just squeels when it's rainy or really humid. I think badjura may have a more serious problem. I'm no belt expert though :( All I know, if it looks worn, it's probably time to replace. If it looks clean, get it adjusted or try the dressing these guy's are talkin about (which couldn't hurt either way)

Try a little belt dressing. Cold belts are stiff and won't grip as well. If it continued to squeal, I'd say check the tension. As it is, it's a pre-pre-pre warning that it might need tightening in the next year. (older belts stretch out with time.)

Thanks for posting this and thanks for the replies. Was worried a few days ago when I started up the car in the morning and heard it squealing. Was raining and car was starting up cold, so guess that's it.
