What kind of Head and fog light bulbs???

What kind of Head and fog light bulbs???

Postby RedRum Solara » Sun Jan 19, 2003 11:49 pm

I searched in the search tab and couldn't find anything on light bulbs.

My question is: I want to take off my stock light bulbs and put on some white super bright light bulbs on but, i dont know what aftermarket brand, can anyone help. I herd some burn out faster then others, and i herd others are not even bright at all, but i remember seeing this solara last week and the lights were bright looked nice. I just put on clear corner too and took off the yellow bulbs but and replace them with standard clear bulbs, but those bulbs are too low, are there any hyper white bright bulbs for clear corners too??? Thanks for the advice...

What year Solara?

99-01 uses H4 for headlights and 9006 for Fog
Personally I like Sylvania Silverstar bulbs.

The yellow is in the lens of the foglight itself. The next best thing is Matrix Yellow 9006.

Try Narva Gold (Narva's Phillips aftermarket brand), Hella Yellow Star, PIAA Ion Crystal/Ion Yellow. Narva Gold would be the most yellow of the bunch, and you can get yourself a pair from Jen Liu @ Suvlights.com

Jen Liu hasn't been selling Narva Gold 9006 for more than a year now. They've been discontinued according to him. Don't get the PIAA Yellow Ions if you don't mind replacing them at monthly intervals.

Hey Missay,

you can purchase what are currently used in Europe called, "Silver bulbs"

They look clear behind the bezzle, but still flash the "legal" amber color when you turn them on.

or, go buy a can of high temp silver paint from home depot and lightly spray your current amber bulbs with a thin coating. tape the contact ends so you don't get paint on them . . . let them dry then carefully without scratching the paint reinstall.

note: it's easier to buy them. just go to a BMW center and talk to parts. the should be able to get them for you or direct what magazine in their waiting room has them offered.

In the mean time, I'll do some more digging here and get that mag that I saw them advertized when I was in the BMW shop last week. I'll also report what kind of paint this is, I've got a can of it in my garage.

Hey, I think their cool too  , and that amber color is for the birds. :P
Wishin for warmer weather!!!

Someone tried the UK bulb, it wasn't an incandescent dual fillament! (so you can't get the indicators to work..but they are amber when lighter and silver when not lighted...my sugestion to them...NO NO). THANKS TO HAPPY AGGIES suggestion, I'm getting these: (they are silver and they are dual fillament) ie. the work like both corner lights and indicators...and color is amber when lighter..and silver/chrome when not lighted ..perfect for us...

Edit: this is Happy's car...look at those corners...you can't say they light up amber!!
