I ran into the curb!!

Ok so it was like raining and I was coming back from getting my inspection sticker done. Then it started to snow liek crazy (couldnt see like 15 feet in front of me) and while i was coming home i was making a right turn and the car slid and hit the curb at like 10mph. I managed to get it to a goodyear to see how bad it was and they said they were'nt sure but something like my cradle might be bent? I dont know what that means ??? Can anyone tell me and give me a estimate on how much the repair bill will be

The wheel is slanted a bit. Could the tie rod be bent? cuz i have no idea what the cradle is, hope its not apart of the frame or something

without pictures, we cant tell how much itll be, but seems youve damaged quite a bit...

hows your alignment? and was your steering wheel shaking while driving/braking? hear any noises while turning??

Weird .. same thing happened to me last night. Checked with a body shop .. told me $800 worth of damage.

Parts: Spindle, Struts, Lower Control arm, Wheel (left front)

What a freakin mess around here today. I don't know if I've ever seen thunder and lighting and snow like this before. It took me 45 minutes to get to work, which usually takes me 5 minutes. I hate this crap.

Oh yea this was bad i couldnt see at all. My trac was flashing like crazy but i kept my speed way down to below 20 and 30 on the highway.

considering the complexity of the suspension/drivetrain setup in front wheel drives, you could have struts, spindle, lower control arm, and tie rod damage.

It could be the whole group, or an individual piece that is damaged in such a situation. strut... look at $200 for a pair (must always be done in pairs, ie: front pair, rear pair), lower control arm... depending where you get it from, dealer (damn pocket rapists) roughly like $1000+, junkyard look at around 200-400. spindle, almost same as control arm. tie rod, not too expensive... but damn hard to find.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, hope the damage is way less than I predict, and stay safe out there, I live in NYC, and I know the pain of driving in adverse weather... havent taken the beast out today... it scares me, lol JK!

It was my left front wheel too!! Well of course i can always call for insurance since i did not crash into anyone. But they raise my points and I have to appeal it which is such a time drain for me. It really doesnt look that off when I eyeball it but my steering wheel is almost 45 degrees off

Seems cheap. Is that labor and parts?

I've had this happen to both of my civics. Each time ended up costing around $1700 including a dented wheel - had to toss the set both times because they where limited edition

Civics are a bit different. I've had the same exact thing happen to me, and it cost a lot less...and I live in nor cal. I think i spent like $600. The thing with civics is that when you curb your car, you almost ALWAYS screw up your lower control arm and that is a bitch to fix. With solars, they have this little piece that takes most of the force of the impact and it does a lot less overall damage. I'm not a mechanic but thats what the dude told me.

i had my 240sx S14 and i spin out on the road at about 40mph and hit the curb. I cracked wheel, bented all the arms and links, subframe, i even cracked the brake disc. I tow the car home and fix it bymyself

I got those parts from junkyard
$150 for a subframe
$200 for a complete spindle, with all the arms and brake caliper

but anyway, my point is that you always can get parts from junkyards. bring it to bodyshop specialist and ask for their opinion.

Damn... Sucks to hear that happen. Besides, I don't think a lower control arm should be that expensive... A local mechanic charged $450 to get it done to my SenCrap, but then again that was a family friend and probably didn't include labor costs. Also, I didn't even bother to do any body work or replace the bent rim, I just put it in the back wheel (makes the car feel like it has a stiffer suspension, which I just hated).

Haha. I just did this to my solara. Was a lil tipsy and did a nice run into a curb on the passenger side.

Lost:
Stock wheel - 110$ (tire 120$)
Control Arm - 140$ new from toyota
Tire rods - 40$ per side
Strut - Set of 4 ($ 320$)

Labor:
Free! oh wait I am doing it all. WHAAAAAAA!

So far i am driving it and eating my old tires off. I get about 400 miles to a tire before they show wire. Laugh.

I was goin like 40 + when i ran into the curb...it would have cost like $2200 but then we got it to $1500....messed up my control arm...srut wheel and tire ...axle...transmisson fluid leaked out...and the towing ppl messed up my fender...(which i still need to get fixed) ill take some pics soon
